The West Park Neighborhood Association is dedicated to preserving and securing our neighborhood’s integrity and history, utilizing the many talents and ideas of our resident, ultimately creating a safe and desirable community for those who have chosen to make the neighborhood of West Park their home.

BOARD MEETING

CALL TO ORDER

The meeting was called to order @ 8:03 a.m. @ Taggarts Ice Cream by President Jim Woofter.   Seventeen members and five guests were in attendance.

 

MINUTES

Minutes from the 1/08/11 meeting were reviewed.  A motion was made by D. Joliat and seconded by C. Breckbill to accept the minutes as written; the motion passed.

 

 FINANCIAL REPORT

Nineteen households paid dues this month bringing the total to fifty-five for 2011.  Two ads were also received.  No checks have been written. . The current balance in the checking account is $6729.30.  A motion was made by T. Young and seconded by D. Woofter to accept the financial report as presented; the motion passed. 

 

OLD BUSINESS

  Block Captains There are still two openings, in zones 7 & 11.

 

  Arts Grant C. McDougall & T. Young are working on a survey to    determine ”branding” for the neighborhood, i.e. exactly what we as    residents value as a community.  The goal of at least 20 reasons to live in    WPNA was suggested.  Lists generated by members in attendance will be    categorized and published for all to review.

   T. Zenedes reported that she & D. Angeli have been working on the    project.  Several locations were mentioned: 12th St. & Monument NW,    23rd ST and Fulton NW, 10th St & Fulton NW, as well as the strip along    the cemetery wall on Serpentine Hill.  A suggestion of either brick and/or    stone signage announcing the entrance into WPNA to be used as a starting   point…several sample pictures were distributed for review and input.    Other suggestions were to incorporate WPNA logo and possibly include    pictures of actual homes within the neighborhood.

  C. McDougall stressed the need for professional architect and city     building engineer to be involved. 

 

  NEW BUSINESS

  Award J. Woofter received an award from City Council, acknowledging      the accomplishments of WPNA.  Congratulations, Jim, and thanks for all    you do!!

  David Belkey Study  The subject of this study was “healthy     neighborhoods”; a brief discussion followed.  A meeting will be     forthcoming to discuss implementation.

 

 

MISCELLANEOUS

  Graffiti on the vacant buildings on the SE corner of 12th  St & Fulton NW    is becoming an issue.  Councilman P. Barton will check on this matter.

 

 

  Next Meeting  March 12, 2011 is the date for the next meeting to be    held @ Taggarts Ice Cream @ 8:00 a.m.  There being no further business,    the meeting was adjourned @ 9:00 a.m.
